In a joint venture between the HR department, Health and Safety team and the company’s Showsec Academy, these new courses will explore the causes for, impact and effective management of stress on a personal and business level.
The course will be run by Showsec Academy Manager Keith Hackett, with support from Head of Human Resources Debbie Atherton, HR Manager Katie Farmer and Health and Safety Manager Phil Cobourne. Debbie says: “Stress is a concern in many workplaces, and this can often be attributed to a manager’s ability to successfully manage those suffering from stress. Employee satisfaction is very important at Showsec, and the course will provide the team with the skills to ensure they are able to spot signs of stress, developing tools and techniques to manage them appropriately.
“This course will encourage people to stop and think about how their behaviour may affect other staff. We need to make more time to sit down and talk, even when we are busy, be more empathetic of each other’s demands and be prepared to re-evaluate communication methods.”
The course involves a participative workshop, designed to suit all staff from directors through to operations executives. The first workshop was held for southern-based employees in Leicester in late April, and was attended by a range of management.
A further session is planned in Manchester in August, and more to be confirmed. |
