December 2014 update

by Mark Rowe

Welcome to the first IFSEC Update, a monthly column that will give Professional Security readers inside info on what is happening at the biggest security event in the UK.

We’ll be getting behind the scenes gossip from exhibitors, speakers and the IFSEC team who will give us the inside track on what makes this global security machine tick! Exclusive offers will be released through this column which will give readers access to discounted travel, VIP upgrade passes and even vouchers for a free meal (or a beer?!) at ExCeL in June. So it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for the voucher codes that will be released in this column. Now, on with this month’s gossip. New sign-ups for 2015 including Mitsubishi Electric, Dorma UK, Capita IT Services, DVTel and Commax, demonstrate planning is already well under way. News for the 2015 show is that the fire safety expo FIREX is moving to the south hall to unite with IFSEC. As security and fire systems become more integrated, it makes sense for these two shows to be side by side so visitors are able to walk seamlessly between them.

Try before you buy

We saw it launched on the show floor in 2014 and Security & Fire Installer live is going to be back in a big way in 2015. Business advisers will be on hand to give guidance on the most effective methods to expand, as well as, giving the opportunity to try products before you buy. The education theatres will be strengthened by combining them and will take a less is more approach with industry names taking to the stage in more targeted sessions. Everyone knows that IFSEC is the place to go for the latest solutions and we’ve been told that there will be more live demonstrations than ever before. Experts will be giving live demos and testing the kit to the extreme, maybe a chance for products to go head-to-head? We’ll have to wait and see! The next IFSEC Update will come next issue; until then, keep up to date with the IFSEC shows around the world at
l IFSEC International runs from June 16 to 18, 2015 at ExCeL London.
