Role: Electrical Improver
Location: Somerset
Salary: £28,000 to £35,000 per annum

Are you a skilled Electrical Improver looking for a new opportunity? This is a field-based role supporting the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and lighting systems across multiple contracts. You’ll work on a variety of sites, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant.

Responsibilities:

  • Service, maintain, and carry out small works on fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems

  • Diagnose and rectify faults across fire and security systems

  • Respond promptly and efficiently to call-outs

  • Complete accurate documentation, including job cards and service reports

  • Build strong customer relationships and provide professional advice on improvements and upgrades

  • Maintain van stock and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols

  • Act as the client’s eyes and ears on site, reporting safeguarding or compliance issues

  • Participate in out-of-hours technical support or call-out rota if required

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience servicing and maintaining fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems

  • Proven experience in addressable and conventional fire alarm systems

  • Ability to complete technical documentation accurately

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance (e.g., BS5839, NSI, BAFE)

  • DBS clearance (essential)

  • Valid UK driving licence (essential)

  • Relevant industry qualifications (e.g., FIA units, City & Guilds)

  • Experience with Gent systems and 18th Edition wiring regulations

  • Strong customer service, organisational, and problem-solving skills
