Role: Emergency Lighting Engineer
Location: Romford
Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per annum

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Emergency Lighting Engineer to carry out the installation, servicing, maintenance, and testing of emergency lighting systems across a wide range of client sites. The successful candidate will ensure all systems comply with BS 5266, current health & safety regulations, and provide safe, reliable illumination in the event of power loss or emergency.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, maintain, and test emergency lighting systems in accordance with BS 5266 and other relevant regulations

  • Carry out periodic inspections and report on the condition and performance of systems

  • Diagnose faults, replace components, and perform system upgrades as required

  • Use specialist tools including Lux meters and battery testers to verify system performance

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with RAMS and site-specific health & safety procedures

  • Provide clear and accurate service reports, test records, and client documentation

  • Advise clients on system improvements or upgrades in line with compliance needs

  • Communicate professionally with clients, site contacts, and other contractors

  • Work independently or as part of a team depending on site/project needs

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of emergency lighting systems

  • Strong knowledge of BS 5266 and its application in real-world environments

  • Confident with electrical drawings, layout plans, and technical specifications

  • Familiarity with a range of emergency lighting systems and test equipment

  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Comfortable working across commercial, residential, and industrial environments
