Role: Fire & Security Design Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £55,000 per annum

Are you a Fire & Security Design Engineer based in the Midlands looking to take the next step in your career? As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing compliant, practical system designs across CCTV, Access Control, Intruder, and Fire Alarm systems. You will be working for a well-established and forward-thinking Fire & Security company delivering commercial and industrial projects across the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce compliant designs, drawings and documentation for Fire & Security systems
  • Conduct site surveys and attend client meetings to gather accurate technical information
  • Create detailed layouts and schematics using CAD or similar design software
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant British Standards and NSI/BSIA codes of practice
  • Support projects through installation, commissioning, and handover phases
  • Amend and update designs in line with site changes or client feedback
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, new technologies, and regulatory changes

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Proven design experience across electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intruder)
  • Basic understanding or exposure to fire alarm systems (training provided)
  • Familiarity with BS 5839, BS EN 50132, and associated codes
  • Competent in using CAD or other design software
  • Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Full UK Driving Licence
