Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services | Woking
A well-established building services contractor is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Design Manager to lead its mechanical design function. The business delivers full design-and-build solutions across commercial and high-end residential projects, specialising in mechanical building services.
The Role
This is a senior position combining hands-on mechanical design with team leadership and technical oversight. You will take responsibility for the delivery of mechanical designs—particularly air conditioning and ventilation systems—while managing engineers and coordinating closely with project delivery teams.
You will be involved from initial concept through to final installation, ensuring designs are technically robust, commercially viable, and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of AC and ventilation systems, including complex multi-zone projects
- Provide technical leadership and review of mechanical designs across multiple projects
- Manage and mentor junior and intermediate design engineers
- Oversee workload planning, design quality and technical compliance
- Coordinate with project managers, site teams, clients and consultants
- Drive efficient, sustainable and cost-effective design solutions
- Support projects from concept design through to installation and handover
