Role: Smart Buildings Solutions Design Lead
Location: London
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 per annum
Are you an experienced Smart Building Solutions Design Lead based in London, looking to take ownership of complex, technology-driven projects from bid stage through to preconstruction? Technical Resources is recruiting for a Smart Building Solutions Design Lead to join a forward-thinking organisation delivering fully integrated smart building solutions across enterprise, hospitality, residential, and data centre environments. This is a senior, hands-on role combining technical leadership, commercial input, and design responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to presales and preconstruction activities from initial enquiry through to contract award
- Manage and support team members throughout the bid and design process
- Scope, design, cost, and develop bid proposals for smart building solutions
- Provide technical and commercial input into Smart Building Design & Build projects post-award
- Ensure designs meet client requirements and align with operational and support teams
- Act as technical lead across multiple integrated technologies and systems
- Support seamless handover from preconstruction to delivery and post-construction support
Experience and Certifications Required:
- Proven experience designing, estimating, and tendering smart building or integrated technology solutions
- Strong technical knowledge across smart building systems, including:
– Building IoT and monitoring solutions
– Structured cabling (copper and fibre)
– Network infrastructure (LAN, WiFi, voice, mobile, servers, storage)
– Electronic security systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intruder, Intercom)
– Audio-visual and workplace technologies
- Strong commercial awareness with experience contributing to bid strategy and costing
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to lead technically while remaining hands-on in design and solution development
