Norland, the facilities management company, has been appointed by Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council to provide facilities management for more than 500 of the councilโs buildings – schools, childrenโs centres, libraries, museums, offices, storage facilities and public conveniences.
The work includes mechanical and electrical maintenance, security, waste collection, asbestos consultancy and water hygiene management and consultancy. The framework includes extra works and capital projects.
The councilโs buildings and schools are throughout the 350 square miles of the borough. London SE1-based Norlandโs UK Services has 12 regional hubs and the company adds serves the needs of clients with large dispersed estates.
Adrian Otsa, Principal Manager, Capital Delivery and Maintenance, Growth and Prosperity Directorate, Cheshire West and Chester Council said: โWe are looking to make efficiency savings whilst continuing to deliver high class services to our internal customers and members of the public using Council facilities through the aggregation of related hard and soft FM activities into a single contract with an experienced service provider in this market and one who shares our vision of being the best.โ
The council can use โWebquoteโ, Norlandโs automated online process for providing auditable and transparent quotations to the council. This helps the Council to maintain its excellent level of statutory compliance.
Tommy Meikle, Managing Director of Norlandโs UK Services capability said: โWe do a lot of work in the Northwest of England including contracts with Scottish Power and a local Police Force as well as a number of properties for Jones Lang Lasalle. We would also be keen to introduce Cheshire West and Chester to some of the other councils with which we work like Wiltshire for whom we manage 267 sites.โ
