A retired Scotland Yard detective by the name of Harry Smale met in 1913 with others like-minded, to form the British Detectives Association. Its successor body, the Association of British Investigators (ABI), comes to London in 2013 for three days of centenary celebrations from Thursday, April 25. The long weekend sees on the Friday the international investigatorsโ body the IKD hold its conference and lunch at Sherlock Holmes Hotel, in Baker Street, the haunt of the famed fictional detective. ABI, WAD and CII members are welcome.
