Rick Rescorla is the subject of an opera.
Briefly, the Cornishman served in Vietnam in the US Marines; and in civilian life was Morgan Stanley director of security. When in the Twin Towers in New York on September 11, 2001, he was among those killed but undoubtedly saved the lives of many people inside the buildings that day owing to his work beforehand and selflessness on the day of the suicide aircraft attacks.
