The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) has signed up security group Select as the first official member of its newly launched Business Supporters Network.
The initiative is designed to encourage more businesses to become brand partners of the YAA. In return, for a small annual fee companies will be allowed to use the network logo for promotional purposes, feature on the YAA website and reinforce their corporate social responsibility by supporting a recognised charity.
With offices throughout Yorkshire, Select Group’s services include static security guarding, mobile security patrols, bailiff and civil enforcement officers, key holding and intruder alarm activation response, private events and wedding security, door supervision and tour management.
Pete Spencer, managing director of Shipley-based Select Group, said: “I have visited one of the YAA air bases and helicopters and seen at first-hand the fantastic work they do.”
Paul Gowland, YAA’s director of fundraising, added: “We hope to encourage more Yorkshire companies to join our Business Supporters Network in what is a simple, yet beneficial way to support our charity.”
Membership to the Yorkshire Business Supporters Network is £100 plus VAT (£117.50) per annum for companies with up to 100 employees and £200 plus VAT (£235.00) per annum. for companies with over 100 employees.

YAA is an independent Charity needing to raise £7,200 per day to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances in the air and maintained. This is equivalent to £2.65million each year. The YAA provides a life saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across four million acres of Yorkshire. Two helicopters, G-SASH and G-CEMS fly from Leeds Bradford International Airport and Sheffield Business Park and a satellite base in Bagby Airfield in Thirsk. The service is operational 365 days a year. Patients are transferred to the most relevant treatment centre, flying at speeds of up to 160mph. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was the first air ambulance in the UK to own and operate a dedicated air desk for dispatch of the helicopters.
