Chubb won the top award at the Metropolitan Police Service Alarm Performance Awards for a second year.

The annual Metropolitan Police Service Alarm Performance Awards highlight good practice in the intruder alarm industry and recognises companies that have done the most to reduce false alarms. The main message of the summer ceremony was that false alarm activations in London have been reduced by more than a third in the last year despite a rise of 35,000 in the total number of remotely monitored alarm systems in London.

Head of the Met’s Communications Branch Cdr Ron McPherson said: "There is no doubt it is as a result of working with the private security industry that we have been able to tackle the problem of false alarm calls so effectively. More than 25 per cent of all remotely monitored alarm systems in the UK are in the London area – that’s almost 250,000 systems being monitored by the capital’s police service." The awards were spit into three categories for small, medium and large businesses. In a ceremony at New Scotland Yard, Chubb was presented with the top award in the large company categories. A total of nine companies from the security trade received specially engraved plaques in recognition of their work. Mark Brooker General Manager from Chubb said: "We attach great importance to reducing false alarms, which helps us to provided our clients with an efficient and effective service to protect their property assets and people." In the year ending December 2002 there were 249,889 alarm systems in the London area compared to 214,491 the previous year. In year ending 2001 there were 150,337 false activations. In 2002 there were 93,733.
