The Metropolitan Police are honouring security alarm companies who are contributing to the fight against false alarms.
False alarms are estimated to cost the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) over ล15m per year according to research by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). The MPS, with BT RedCARE, the signalling company, are working to tackle this problem by honouring security alarm companies who are contributing to the fight against false alarms.
The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) launched the Intruder Alarm Awards Scheme in 1999. It is thought to be the only scheme of its kind to reward the success of security alarm installation companies for reducing false alarm activations. The scheme has three categories, judged according to the number of installations: 50 to 999 being small, 1,000 to 4,999 medium and 5,000-plus large installations. Each category is awarded three winners: gold, silver and bronze. The aim of the scheme is to highlight installers with the lowest average false alarm rate, per system, per year, running from April 1, 2001 until March 31, 2002.
