Owned by Scottish Life and managed by Donaldsons, Lower Precinct Shopping Centre in Coventry dates from the 1950s. It now offers 250,000 sq ft of retailing space, with units currently 70 per cent let. Tenants include high-profile names such as Next, H&M Hennes, H Samuel, Pizza Hut, Sony Centre, Clarks, Uniqlo, Etam, Faith Shoes, The Entertainer and Sainsburys. As part of a ล50m redevelopment project, Shop Alert has been installed in all 40 units. Paul Chalmers, centre manager at Lower Precinct, comments: “We chose Shop Alert because it is being used in other centres managed by Donaldsons and has proved to be a very useful tool within the industry due to speed of communication between centre management and tenants. This two-way means of communication is very important to us. Additionally, the system gives tenants a sense of being secure as they know they can immediately communicate with our central security control room should the need arise. Shop Alert is also an extremely useful communications tool in general, over and above its normal day-to-day applications.? The system is now operating in more than 30 centres across the UK.
