Investigative analysis software company i2, has received a letter of commendation from the Maryland State Police for its support during the recent Washington Metropolitan Area sniper investigation. Visit

Following a request from the Maryland State Police, i2 ‘delivered and configured software that played a critical role in the organisation and analysis of intelligence information gathered during the investigation’. This commendation is similar to a letter i2 received from the Director of the FBI for its assistance following the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

About the product

Analyst’s Notebook brings clarity, i2 say, to complex investigations and intelligence analysis by uncovering hidden links between seemingly unrelated persons, places and events. i2 products are used worldwide and have become a part of analytical and processes of more than 1,500 law enforcement and commercial organisations, say i2. The product is designed to aid national and regional law enforcement, serious fraud and national security agencies, as well as corporate companies, share information both internally and with other cooperating organisations. Insight developed by one agency can be easily shared by combining analytical charts within Analyst’s Notebook. Specific areas of the investigation can be visually divided on the chart to eliminate duplication of investigative resources. The result is an information-sharing environment where each organisation has access to the complete intelligence picture, say i2.

What they say

Mike Hunter, CEO of i2, said: “Knowing that our software is critical in assisting law enforcement organisations with their pressing investigations provides a tremendous level of satisfaction for the entire i2 team. Complex investigations require sophisticated software, and we have spent more than a decade developing solutions that prove valuable for organisations such as the Maryland State Police.”
