Dedicated Micros, celebrating 20 years in security at IFSEC (stand S110), is running an hourly presentation with the aid of an intergalactic ?close encounter? to mark the occasion. DM has grown from a team of six to a 200-strong company with offices worldwide. Recent highlights include a feature up-grade to the Digital Sprite multiplex recorder, which now includes high capacity storage options, external archiving capability and new network features. The 320GB model now offers 31 days recording at the equivalent of 24-hour time-lapse mode and SVHS quality equal to 6pps with an 18KB image file size. It also provides the capability of archiving video directly to a CD ROM using a standard external CD writer. The introduction of telemetry capabilities to the Sprite Lite analogue multiplexer enables control of domes via the system controller remote keyboard. It also includes automatic switching of the dome to a pre-set position when an external alarm is activated, ensuring the camera is focused on the source of the action. The user has the flexibility to decide whether to record from all cameras or selected cameras only, increasing the record rate and performance of key cameras. Recording is available through S-VHS video support. Dedicated Micros has also introduced the Digital 4 and Digital 4e, a standalone digital solution for smaller applications in the shape of an entry-level four camera digital multiplex recorder range. Aimed at banks and small retail outlets, the Digital 4 range brings CCTV networking within the reach of small businesses, the firm says. The Digital 4 range combines digital video multiplexing, digital recording, audio and remote viewing capabilities with two operating options: the D4 via PPP with the use of a modem for standalone applications, or the D4e via a standard Ethernet connection for use on a LAN or WAN.
