Arrestor Development

by Msecadm4921

The newly developed Bristorm Arrestor, on show at IFSEC, first deployed at the G20 Summit, London, in March, as part of the Metropolitan Police’s security measures to protect delegates.

In response to a demand for deployable anti-vehicle fences, Bristorm, part of the HS Security Group, and Corus Bi-Steel, jointly developed the product, designed for temporary or semi-permanent use to protect from vehicle bombs. The free-standing, demountable fence complements the anti-vehicle security products offered by both companies.

Development, and testing to BSI PAS 68, of the Arrestor took three months from design, through testing, to first installation. It can be fully deployed within hours of arrival on site thanks to a ‘no dig’ feature that eliminates the need for foundations. The product comprises of Bi-Steel Barges to which wire ropes are attached, the Barges spaced out as appropriate around a site perimeter.

Simon Box, Product Manager at Bristorm said before IFSEC: "This joint initiative between Corus Bi-Steel and ourselves has produced an effective and efficient solution for the anti-vehicle security market. Using technologies from both companies the Arrestor’s unique design means it can be deployed at speed should the need arise or, as in the case of the G20 summit, be used for temporary protection of buildings and assets with no damage to surrounding areas."
