The International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) has held its first UK seminar.

The International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) has held its first UK seminar. Attending the Metropolitan Police centre in Bushey Heath were security and DVLA managers, senior police, and professionals from the fields of insurance, data protection, finance, and hire vehicles. Speakers at IAATI annual seminar included John Hann, retired Det Chief Superintendent, Peter Clark, data protection commissioner; Alan Greenouff, on the vehicle salvage industry; commercial fraud manager John Wagstaff, on staged accidents; Detective Inspector Mike Barron, on car parts marking; Jan Chandaman, of the DVLA; Mike Crisp, of the National Criminal Intelligence Service, on stolen Japanese imports; Andrew Kaye, on motor finance fraud; and Mark Jones and Alan Taylor, on PATSY (Ports Anti-Theft System). Tony Simms, IAATI UK President presented the Keith English Award (a rose bowl) to Andrew Kaye to mark PATSY?s achievements. At a training day at Avon and Somerset Police HQ at Portishead, speakers included Mark Jones, Fraud Manager, Direct Line Insurance; Michael Hinchcliffe of Retainagroup on vehicle marking systems; Mick Carter, Regional Investigator, GAB Robins; and Alan Taylor, Automatic Number Plate Recognition Officer, Kent Police, on ANPR. Tyco Integrated Systems, a sponsor of the first annual seminar, has supplied Kent Police with ANPR to detect stolen cars.
