Ace Security of Bromley has recently carried out several installations at sites requiring 24-hour access control, using products from FAAC (UK), the manufacturer of gate, door and barrier automation. Access control has long presented a problem at sites where it was necessary to employ gate staff to cover 24 hours. Ace Security?s solution is to install a automatic gate and/or barrier system (or upgrade an existing one), which it combines with an access control system. One company to benefit from this solution is in the scaffolding industry and has a large number of out-of-hours deliveries from all around the country to its three sites. Ace Security supplied and installed new gates, with FAAC automation, at one of the sites, and fitted FAAC operators to the existing gates at the other two sites. Each site also benefits from a video entry system and CCTV linked to the 24-hour control room at Bridge CCTV (a sister company of Ace), so that all visitors can be monitored, and allowed access as appropriate. Dave Simpson, Managing Director of Ace Security, says, “We?ve been using FAAC gate and barrier automation for over 15 years and have always found it very reliable ? particularly important with an installation like this, where, if the gates were to malfunction, there might well be no one on site to sort out the problem. As well as providing effective, streamlined security and access control, these new systems have enabled several of our clients to reduce costs.?
At two of the sites, FAAC 400 swing gate operators were used, with magnetic locks. The 400 is suitable for commercial and industrial gates with a maximum width of 7m per leaf. Functions include anti-crushing and automatic locking capabilities. At the third site, Ace Security installed a three-phase model 884, the largest of FAAC?s sliding gate operators. Designed for intensive use in commercial and industrial settings, the 884 is suitable for gates weighing up to 3,500kg. The ?industrial? design is guaranteed by the exceptional performance characteristics of the gearmotor, which allows a frequency of 100pc uninterrupted use for gates up to 2,000kg, the manufacturers say.
