Construction site barriers made of SmartPly SiteProtect have formed a bright addition to a site in Tilburg in the Netherlands, during the new build of a Amarant day-care centre. Amarant is a global organisation to support people with disabilities and their families. Marquart Architects, the designers of the centre, were also responsible for designing the barriers.
The barrier design incorporates a number of ‘spy holes’ to allow passers-by to take a look at the construction work taking place. The SiteProtect panel, supplied ex-works, is already coated with a base coat, and the day-care centre staff coordinators have gone a step further by encouraging their clients to use the barriers as a blank canvas for their own forms of artistic expression.
SmartPly SiteProtect is a coated OSB product recently launched for uses such as site hoarding and security installations. The smooth heavy-duty exterior, cross-linked polymer coating provides a surface for artwork, advertisements, company logos and paint, and, in this case, offers a base for the users of the new Amarant centre to have some creative fun! The OSB SiteProtect panels were developed especially for construction site barriers, security applications and they also have a range of other uses, from interior walls to roof boarding.
Behind SiteProtect is SmartPly OSB 3, a solid OSB panel that is manufactured without the addition of formaldehyde. The water-based coating contains no volatile organic substances and SiteProtect is suitable for use both indoors and outdoors. The SmartPly SiteProtect panel used for this project is supplied by Jongeneel Breda, a stock-holding distributor for many Medite MDF and SmartPly OSB panel products.
SmartPly SiteProtect is supplied in standard dimensions of 2440 mm x 1220 mm x 18 mm for interior and exterior use. SmartPly OSB is part of the panel products division of Coillte, the Irish forestry and forest products company. For more information, visit www.smartply.com/siteprotect
