In London the Victoria BID (Business Improvement District) is creating a business crime reduction partnership for their members.
Victoria BID covers the retail centre of Victoria Street with its theatres, department stores and shopping centre as well as other retail and business areas including Victoria rail and coach stations and Victoria underground station, which is seeing a multi-million pound upgrade to increase capacity.
Simon Reason, the business crime reduction officer for Victoria BID said, ‘We have a number of problems associated with the sheer number of people arriving and departing each day. With three very major transport interchanges this gives us particular crime problems. We work closely with BTP and the coach station operators but closer integration through a structured and accredited partnership will be more effective. There are a number of developments taking place designed to improve and increase the business and leisure facilities in the area and we want to ensure that residents, visitors and those who work here have a pleasant time and that we are able to manage the problems we do have more effectively.’
