Biometric Order

by Msecadm4921

US biometrics manufacturer Identix says it has received new purchase orders from California State and Local agencies for multiple units of its Identix TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 line of full-hand and 10-print live scan fingerprint systems.

The orders have an aggregate value of about $700,000, and include multiple Identix TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3800 Full-Hand Live Scan Systems, as well as TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000, 3100 and 3500 models. The live scan systems under these purchase orders will be deployed to upgrade and expand existing law enforcement live scan networks, as well as to establish new processing centers for an agency that must conduct federally mandated background checks.

What they say

Identix President & CEO Dr Joseph J Atick said: "We are seeing strong demand throughout the US, as well as in international markets, for our recently introduced Enhanced Definition live scan offerings. The importance of image quality is now a number one customer requirement and we believe our Enhanced Definition systems provide the ability to capture unparalleled images, with an image capture and output that exceeds the FBI Appendix F standards in an extremely user-friendly system."

About the product

The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series exceeds the FBI Appendix F standard by providing 3.5 times the pixel density and 300 percent more contrast, resulting in images that have far more fine ridge detail than dictated by the Appendix F requirements. The TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series employs technologies that take into account subjects with different size fingers and skin colors, sweaty fingers and users rolling fingers at different speeds. The systems produce clear, crisp fingerprint images with virtually no distortion or false minutiae that can be caused by smudging and smearing, it is claimed. TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000 Series systems are designed to maintain image quality over time, and with no moving parts in the optics deck and no silicon pads or coatings to change, they provide maximum reliability and minimal downtime, lowering the total overall cost of ownership, the makers claim.
