Biometric Visit

by Msecadm4921

Phil Sawford, MP for Kettering, visited local facial recognition company, Aurora Computer Services Ltd at their offices in Hannington, Northants.

On the visit, Mr Sawford was able to see first hand the Facial Recognition systems that are in use, in the construction industry and those that are now emerging in UK police forces, including Northamptonshire. He was also shown the company’s 3D Facial Recognition being used for access control.

ID product

Mr Sawford was particularly interested, Aurora report, in their web-enabled identification product eGallery. eGallery allows a facial image to be checked against a database of known images – the database is then reordered, within seconds, to present the most likely matches on screen. eGallery is proving to be an investigative tool to help police search custody databases for unidentified suspects, he firm says. The system is being used, the firm says, by a number of UK forces, including West Midlands Police, Greater Manchester Police, West Yorkshire Police, Northamptonshire Police and Hampshire Constabulary.
