Biometrics Morning

by Msecadm4921

The PAS 92 code of practice on how you can implement biometric technologies is the subject of a half-day British Standards (BSI) seminar in London on June 22.

Biometric technologies, such as automated face recognition, fingerprint verification and iris scans, are set to play an increasingly important role in a number of sectors, say BSI.

However, as the use of biometric recognition systems increases, there are uncertainties as to how these should be applied, say organisers.

Chairman for the event is Dr Peter Waggett of Emerging Technology at IBM. Speakers invited are, covering privacy and the legal aspect, Jonathan Bamford, Head of Strategic Liaison at the Information Commissionerโ€™s Office; on the role of biometrics in policing, Geoff Whitaker, Chief Technology Officer, Biometrics Police Science and Forensics, National Policing Improvement Agency; and on biometrics in the building sector, Nick Wilkinson, Construction Business Unit Manager, Human Recognition Systems; Dr Fred Preston , Senior Director, Identity and Security Solutions, Morpho UK Ltd; and Hugh Carr-Archer, Chief Executive Officer, Aurora Computer Services Ltd.
