Following the launch of their rising bollard at the Parkex exhibition in the autumn of 2001, manufacturer Cale BriParc have set up a mobile demonstration unit. The bollard features a patented lift mechanism which avoids the need for hydraulics, pneumatics or complex drive mechanisms. The design has greatly reduced maintenance times and increased the interval between maintenance visits, the manufacturer says. The unit can be serviced by one engineer, with all drive mechanisms being removable in under a minute, says Steve Nicholls, Managing Director at Cale BriParc. He says: ?Customers who saw the bollard at first hand were extremely impressed with its features and in many cases they wanted colleagues to have the opportunity to inspect the equipment. The only way forward was to invest in a facility that would allow us to easily take the unit to customers? premises.? The bollard, which is also available in stainless steel, has different levels of impact energy shears, which can be altered after installation.
