Border Date

by Msecadm4921

RUSI is running a Border Security Conference on March 30.

Event organisers say that securing the UK’s border, and the people and goods travelling across it, remains high on the agenda of the Government and its key international partners. Border security has been identified as a critical component in the fights against organised crime, illegal immigration and terrorism.

The SDSR (strategic defence and security review) outlined significant change and reorganisation around border security. RUSI want this conference to bring together figures from government and industry to explore the nature of that change and discuss the challenges which it is designed to meet. Topics covered at the event will include:

the introduction of new technologies;

the creation of a border police command;

strengthening of the UK’s visa process and the E-borders programme;

regulatory changes around passenger security;

the emerging threat from cargo security;

the future of passenger screening and the integration of activity at the border. Visit –
