Bus Fleet Cameras

by Msecadm4921

Some Silent Witness Digital Chaperone monitoring systems have been installed in another US school bus fleet.

In the USA, the Pocono Mountain School District of Swiftwater, Pennsylvania has recently authorised The Protection Bureau of Exton, Pennsylvania to purchase and install 105 Silent Witness Digital Chaperone monitoring systems in their school bus fleet. The school district’s decision to go digital will save it time and money as Digital Chaperone offers image retrieval, requires little or no maintenance and eliminates tape replacement and storage, the makers report.

What they say

Dr David J. Krauser, Superintendent of Schools, Pocono Mountain School District says: “The school board recognised that time is money and wholeheartedly supported the move to digital due to the ease in accessing information. Instead of drivers reviewing hours of tape to find a specific incident, a driver is able to pinpoint, in a matter of minutes, the exact frame depicting the incident under question.” With the camera systems being on board to deter inappropriate behavior, bus drivers can focus their attention back on the road and administrators can spend less time disciplining children and more time on instructional improvement of teachers and students.

More planned

The school district plans to connect the Silent Witness docking system to their Wide Area Network (WAN) whereby the video of an incident can be sent over their WAN to any building principal. This district also plans to equip their entire fleet of 250 buses with Digital Chaperones in the next few years. The installation of the initial 105 monitoring systems will be completed by January 2003. Visit www.silentwitness.com
