Samsung has developed an application which enables live video from its iPOLiS network camera range to be remotely viewed on the iPhone and Android smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone.
You can download the free iPOLiS MOBILE app from iTunes and Android market. It lets users control the pan, tilt and zoom functions of the manufacturerโs latest network cameras. Set-up can take less than a minute, the makers say; then users are able to view streamed video from their selected camera via a wireless or 3G network.
All the companyโs iPOLiS network cameras will be compatible with the app. Camera models which have the latest firmware and are thus compatible, include the latest HD megapixel ranges, including full pan/tilt/zoom models. The iPOLiS MOBILE app can also provide for live viewing and PTZ control of analogue cameras via a Samsung SRD series DVR.
Peter Ainsworth, Senior Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, says: โThe introduction of the iPOLiS MOBILE app is an excellent example of how our design engineers are looking at innovative ways to provide customers with maximum benefit from a Samsung surveillance solution. There are so many different ways this application might be put to good use. It will certainly be of practical help, for example, to security managers who are not permanently based at one location and are responsible for a large number of sites.โ
