Distributor Gardiner Security reports a recent distribution agreement with Mobotix, the manufacturer of network cameras. New is the M22 camera.
In 1999 German company Mobotix designed a web camera capable of delivering images to the Internet via ISDN without the need of a PC. More than 40,000 of these cameras sold worldwide within three years of release; the company now has subsidiaries across three countries, with partners spread over 60 countries and more than 125 active distributors.
The cameras are ‘out-of-the-box’ solutions, it is claimed, so the only requirement prior to set up is a standard web browser with access to a power outlet or network. There is no need for additional applications, the firm adds, as the necessary software is already installed onto the camera and can be upgraded at any time via download at no additional cost.
Carl Stewart, Mobotix’s newly appointed UK Business Development Manager, believes that Mobotix products will quickly find their way into a range of installations, especially within education, local government and retail: "The new M22 camera offers not only 30 frames per second – a frame to match CCTV quality, but it can also be linked to any make of suitable device.”
All the functions for video surveillance are incorporated into the camera, including storage and evaluation processes, Mobotix reports. The cameras do not require constant contact to a central PC or server, the firm adds; this only becomes necessary when images need to be stored for long times, and this reduces the network load dramatically.
"Our partnership with Mobotix will greatly benefit installers right across the board, giving them a highly cost effective option with excellent image quality and in many instances, clear advantages over traditional CCTV solutions," says Gardiner’s Integrated Systems Product Manager Ray Ashby.
