Central Universities of Cornwall, Tremough Campus, Penryn has undergone a development programme.
Part of the development was to build new student accommodation blocks which are sympathetic towards the surrounding countryside. Access to the new student accommodation blocks is provided by 72 TelGuard Juniors installed by MITIE Technology Limited. The entry panels have an illuminated keypad for ease of use in darkness and a comfort tone on key presses. An IP (Internet Protocol) network has been installed on site to carry the computers, telephony and CCTV. The TelGuard system operates via the IP network allowing students to speak to their visitor on their own telephone extension. When a visitor presses the flat number the telephone in the flat rings and the student answers the call as normal. Students enter a four digit PIN for their own access. In an emergency, on-site security can be alerted from any panel, this call could also go off site or to a mobile phone.
