Canary Wharf Cameras

by Msecadm4921

Advertising agency Ogilvy has a new CCTV and security system at their Canary Wharf, London, offices.

The system was specified and installed internally throughout the ad agency’s building by Taylor Technology in late 2004. Vision Link Plus of Rochdale supplied all the equipment.

What they say

Dave Goulding, Director of Facilities at Ogilvy & Mather, says: Since installing the CCTV system in our building we have virtually eliminated reported theft. In addition we use the security set-up to safeguard our systems. Staff, visitors and contractors are monitored whilst on the premises to protect equipment and confidential material. Any incidents can be thoroughly investigated using CCTV footage. Furthermore, security has been instrumental in the case of potential health and safety claims.” Some 32 TK-C920E (A) 1/3-inch CCD colour-monochrome cameras from JVC were installed.

Mark Taylor set up Taylor Technology in 2004. The company specifies access control systems, CCTV, video entry, remote transmission integration and fire protection installations. Ogilvy was one of the first contracts to be awarded. Mark Taylor said: “I chose the cameras for the complete security system because they produce clear detail and are able to perform well in both low light and brightly lit conditions. I have over 19 years experience in the security industry and know that critical to specifying and installing CCTV and access control systems is the functionality, reliability and durability of equipment. The JVC cameras are very easy to use and configure. JVC is a well known brand and is a demonstrated leader in the manufacture of CCTV cameras.” Geoff Bwye, Area Sales Manager – South at JVC Professional Europe Ltd adds: “JVC are delighted to be involved in high profile installations such as Ogilvy with Taylor Technology. The camera’s robust design and performance in low light environments make it the perfect camera for this type of installation.”

About the camera

The manufacturers report that the TK-C920E (A) cameras incorporate a 10-bit digital signal processor (DSP) that automatically adjusts the camera parameters to ensure high resolution, sharp and natural looking pictures in all lighting conditions, it is claimed. The 1/3-inch CCD produces 535 TV lines of horizontal resolution. The Super LowLux sensitivity of 0.7 lux at F1.2 in colour mode, ensures image quality is produced even at low light levels, the makers add. For this installation, the cameras are set to capture colour images. Camera images are monitored during working hours at Ogilvy.
