Canterbury City Council?s new CCTV equipment in the cathedral city and surrounding areas including Herne Bay and Whitstable covers mainly car parks, with a view to achieving Secure Car Park status. Some 26 Surveyor 2000 dome cameras from Vicon Industries have been installed. Many are the colour S2000-RW23 day/night dome which features a variable speed drive, and environmental housing and a 23x day/night high resolution camera and lens assembly with a clear outer dome. Vicon have been working with the council since 1991. The local authority 24-hour control room uses a Vicon V1466 model matrix. This microprocessor-controlled system allows for systems with a minimum of 32 inputs and 16 outputs to a maximum of 256 inputs and 32 outputs. There is a built-in interface for control by a host computer, with a graphical configurator for a PC.
