Car Park Mark

by Msecadm4921

In north London, eight car parks managed by Hillingdon Council have received a “ParkMark” award for their improved standards.

The ParkMark is a national accreditation scheme run by the Association of Chief Police Officers, and managed on their behalf by the British Parking Association. To qualify, parking facilities are judged on the measures in place aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime to create safe and non-threatening environments.
Measures installed at the eight public car parks have included new secure fencing, installation of CCTV cameras and improved signage and landscaping.

Five of the eight car parks receiving the ParkMark recognition had improved safety and security measures installed by the council in the last year, namely those at Brandville Road in West Drayton; North View, Eastcote; Pembroke Gardens, Ruislip Manor; Pump Lane, Hayes; and St. Martins Approach, Ruislip. The remaining three, at Community Close in Ickenham, Falling Lane, Yiewsley and Blyth Road in Hayes, were upgraded in 2003/04.

As well as the ParkMark award, new reduced rates have been introduced in seven of the Borough’s car parks. The new rate of only £2 to park all day has been introduced to encourage local residents who work in Central London, to leave their car locally and use the Underground.

What they say

Councillor Mike Heywood, the Cabinet Member for Planning and Transportation said: “We’re delighted to receive the ParkMark award for these eight public car parks managed by the Council. This recognition by the British Parking Association gives added reassurance to drivers and other car park users.”
