Cards And Readers

by Msecadm4921

A new range of 13.56 MHz RFID card and reader systems for access control and security applications has been launched by Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification Systems.

Texas Instruments, a supplier of RFID systems for tracking goods, people and vehicles, has more than 180m RFID tags in use around the world, reports David Hyslop, UK Sales Manager for Texas Instruments RFid Systems. RFID applications include retail payment, inventory control and automotive security. The new cards and readers are suitable for stand-alone and multi-site applications where staff require access to several places around the world with central administration and control. TI-RFid?s 13.56 MHz cards and readers feature full compliance with the global ISO 15693 standard for vicinity cards. They offer simultaneous reading of multiple cards, and re-programmability at-the-door. This latter feature simplifies administration, TI report, as the cards can be automatically re-programmed with new rights whenever they are presented to a reader ? without having to issue new cards. Another feature is that the cards meet the ISO 7810 standard making it easy, TI say, to print and customise with photos, logos or text using standard dye sublimation printers. TI-RFid?s cards and badges provide a unique ID for every card to ensure that no two cards or people are ever mis-identified. User data is written and stored directly on the card, independent from a host system, allowing employees to carry information such as authorisation codes, certification, emergency medical histories, and biometrics. The two-piece readers can be installed in new or retrofit applications, and come in a variety of styles for wall plate or mullion mounting.
