Careline Charge

by msecadm4921

It?s wrong to charge elderly users of a Careline service to in effect subsidise CCTV monitoring, according to the Audit Commission.

At Chester-le-Street District Council, Careline alarms are monitored with public space CCTV. The commission?s report on the Durham local authority said: ?In our view this is an unfair practice, as vulnerable residents of the disrict who are amongst the most economically disadvantaged are effectively paying for a service that all residents, including council taxpayers, benefit from. This represents a form of subsidy that is simply unfair.?
