A new edition of a book about CCTV seeks to demystify digital video recorder (DVR) technology, it is claimed.
CCTV: Networking and Digital Technology 2nd edition by Vlado Damjanovski is a forthcoming book from Elsevier. Illustrations, diagrams, checklists and charts help the reader break down complicated CCTV system information into manageable portions, the publishers report.
Vlado Damjanovski is a CCTV engineer, educator and editor of the CCTV focus magazine in Australia. The new edition includes new sections on CCTV networking, digital video recorders (DVRs), various video compression techniques, understanding pixels and digital image quality. It covers CCTV standards highlights for the US, Europe, and Australia.
The author reports that CCTV is experiencing a leap in technology using digital techniques, networking and the Internet. The new edition of what is described as a professional reference retains the details of CCD cameras, lenses, coaxial cables, fiber-optics, and system design, but it is expanded to cover all video compression techniques used in the ever increasing assortment of digital video recorders (DVRs) available on the market. It also aims to clarify the technology of data networking. The author adds that the challenge of selecting the right system from such a wide variety of new technologies available in CCTV has been compounded by the advent of DVRs.
