The Royal Exchange, the home of the first London Stock Exchange, has been refurbished to house an exclusive collection of retail outlets. Intruder International was awarded the contract, valued at more than ล100,000, to design and install a security system. The installer sought to provide integrated CCTV, access control and intruder protection with control and monitoring from a central control room. The products also had to be sympathetic with the site?s grade one listed building status. Hence the installer custom-designed (for example) dome cameras fitted into gas lamp fittings. A Janus access control system, from Grosvenor Technology, provides overall central control. This interfaces to access control proximity card readers for tenant access and a Galaxy intruder detection system via RS232 communication links. A Loronix digital CCTV system incorporating a 390GB hard disc provides a rolling 31 days of recordings, event activated control and retrieval. One feature of the system is the integration between the intruder detection and CCTV to provide a prompt response to any potential problems. Any alarm will automatically re-position the nearest CCTV camera to the area of interest, enabling control room staff to view the incident. Intruder International have gained a separate contract for the external CCTV protection of the building, again valued at more than ล100,000.
