There’s a ‘secure by design’ theme to the Association of Security Consultants annual conference and exhibition, CONSEC 2005 on November 3.
After a welcome by Sir Stanley Bailey, another former chief constable, Richard Childs, Managing Director of ACPO’s Secured by Design, will be the opening speaker. Next Tim Pascoe of the Designing Out Crime Association will discuss Crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED). University of Leicester Prof Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International (PRCI) will ask if CCTV really helps secure by design, posing questions such as: who implements CCTV schemes? who watches the cameras and with what results? Does CCTv reduce crime and make people feel safer? and what future has CCTV? Terry Cocks, also of the Designing out crime Association, a Camden Police crime prevention design advisor, will follow. After lunch, invited speakers are John Saunders, Chief Executive of the Security Industry Authority, and Kevern Oliver, a consultant retained by the SIA to develop the competency specifications for private investigators and security consultants.
The venue as previous years is the Metropolitan Police Sports and Social Club, Aldenham Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire.
