by Msecadm4921

ASIS’s fourth European conference is in Copenhagen, from April 17 to 20, 2005.

This event is organised by the ASIS European Bureau in Brussels, Belgium. The event’s sessions are primarily devoted to European and global security challenges, the association says. ASIS adds that it continues to reach out to an ever-growing audience of international security professionals. The sessions will explore subjects including New Tools and Methods for Crisis Management, Developing an Effective Threat Assessment Process, Building a Secure European Business Community, The Challenge for Private Security Regulation and Standardisation in the Enlarged EU, The Emerging Practise of International Background Screening, and Considerations for Operating in a Hostile Environment, among other session topics.

Two keynote speakers will address the conference: Dr Jamie Shea and Mr Jean-Jacques Cockx. Dr. Shea is the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for External Relations, Public Diplomacy Division, NATO. During his career he has covered the positions of Spokesman of NATO and Deputy Director of Information and Press. Mr Cockx is the leading Partner of Unisys Defence Practice in Europe and has an extensive insight into European and international security issues from working in commercial, technological, and military contexts. Former positions included the Chief Information Officer for the Belgian Military Intelligence Services, Information Security Advisor to the Minister of Defence, and Director of KPMG Consultants Integrated Solutions and Security Practice. The conference will conclude on Wednesday, April 20, with a panel discussion on risk management.
