Counterfeit Donor

by msecadm4921

Walsall Council’s trading standards has given more than 1,500 items of counterfeit clothing, DVDs and other items to charity.

These goods, worth more than £50,000 if genuine, have been seized over the last 12 months and now have been donated to His Church – a Christian charity group to be given to International Aid.

Labels will be taken off the clothes for them to be re-used, the DVD cases will be re-used and the DVDs turned into granules to be re-manufactured.

Councillor Rachel Walker, cabinet member for environment and street pride, said: “It is unfortunate that such illegal activity exists – but Walsall trading standards is working hard to stamp out this type of activity.

“All the goods we have seized are being donated to charity – stopping criminals benefiting from their crimes. These goods are then stored and given to charity to be distributed to needy people or to be recycled.”
