The new Ultracam mini videoscope from Ultrafine Technology is a miniature video camera suitable the makers say for covert surveillance applications or searching difficult to access areas.
With a diameter of 5.5 mm, the camera can be passed through narrow gaps such as holes through walls produced using Ultrafine’s drilling equipment. Its angle of view is 60 dgrees and illumination is provided by four white light LEDs mounted in the tip.
The low power consumption CMOS camera captures images with crystal clear picture quality, and plugs into a digital video recorder. The LEDs can be switched on or off by an in line controller.
"The Ultracam mini videoscope is one of the world’s smallest cameras with integral illumination," said Ultrafine managing director John Patterson. "It is also surprisingly inexpensive."
The videoscope can be supplied on its own or with Ultrafine’s SX1000 pocket digital video recorder. This high definition recorder has a 3.5 inch colour display with speakers and measures only 130 mm (w) x 83 mm (h) x 26 mm (d).
