Datatag ID Ltd has recently gained a Secured by Design licence for their secure database register and specified asset marking systems which support their range of anti theft devices.
Secured by Design, the UK police initiative, supports the principle of ‘designing out crime’, a part of the Governmentโs goals of creating secure, quality places where people wish to live and work.
"Weโre delighted to join Secured by Design and receive the official licence," said Datatag Director Kevin Howells. "The initiative is exactly in line with our philosophy of crime prevention through visual and technological deterrents. When a thief sees the Datatag decals on a motorbike, boat or any other machine, they generally know that the chance of being caught will increase. The technologies used are permanently hidden throughout the machine, to remove the various components without causing lasting damage would be extremely difficult and time consuming, so stealing becomes a fruitless exercise."
Datatag already protects road and competition bikes. The company recently signed a deal to become the official marking, security and registration system for the ACU, the motorcycling sportโs governing body, to provide protection for competitorsโ bikes. Off-road motorcycle manufacturer KTM has also joined forces with Datatag and will fit the system as standard on all machines in their 2005 range.
Before qualifying for the Secured by Design licence, Datatag had to gain ISO9001:2000 and LPS1224:Issue 2 accreditation. The companyโs IBM AS400 computer can be accessed by selected official bodies 24-7. Datatag report that they database was certificated in May.
