Dr Tim Pascoe, head of business development at consultants Perpetuity, and Camden crime prevention man Terry Cocks are leading members of the Designing out Crime Association (DOCA).
Terry reports that the association is picking up interest as a result of the closing of the Home Officeโs crime reduction college at Easingwold, north Yorkshire. The association is keen to reach an audience beyond the police, among, for example, architects. For European standards body CEN (the Centre for European Normalisation) Terry Cocks is convenor of a working group (made up of police, academics and the like) on designing out crime in schools and petrol stations; and protection of buildings from ram raids. Another working party, French-led, is looking at security standards at transport interchanges. The aim; to provide pan-European standards, or reference documents.
DOCA is hosting an international seminar on March 30, 2007 at Central St Martins College in London WC1. For details e-mail gensec@doca.org.uk
