RemGuard Visual Management, the remote CCTV monitors, have joined forces with passive infra-red (PIR) product manufacturer Optex to offer training sessions for installers on the use of the latest active and PIR detection devices.
The free half-day training courses will be held over the next few months and tailored to the needs of individual installers, ensuring that their engineers are competent in the preparation, installation and maintenance of Optex detectors, including the Redwall product.
What they say
Alan Collinge, Director at RemGuardโs RVRC, said: โWe are pleased to be able to offer this training with Optex, as the positioning and configuration of detectors is fundamental to the success of detector activated CCTV โ a fact recognised by BS 8418. The last thing that engineers want is to have to waste time and money visiting sites of disgruntled customers to adjust perfectly good detectors, that false alarm excessively, simply because they have not been installed correctly in the first place. Also, from an RVRC perspective we are certainly keen to minimise unnecessary activations so attention can be focused on genuine incidents.
โThe difference which effective training can make is often dramatic; I know of one example where a detector protecting the rear of a site was generating over 200 false alarms a month because of wildlife โ specifically rabbits โ this compares to the same time period after the installer attended training when, with adjustments in the height and sensitivity of detectors, there wasnโt a single false alarm!โ
All companies attending the training will also be provided with a free audio walk tester, the firms add. This tool is particularly for where systems need to conform to BS 8418, allowing installers to align detectors. Sessions will be held at RemGuardโs offices in Warrington, Cheshire.
