The Allders chain of department stores sought discreet CCTV to reduce reduce theft and shoplifting. The Sheffield and Watford branches (former C & A stores) have had Sony mini dome cameras installed. Nine internal Sony SSC-CD33VP colour mini fixed dome cameras have been installed at the Allders Home Store, which opened in August, in the Meadowhall complex, Sheffield. During September, nine Sony mini dome cameras, to the same internal colour specification, were fitted at Allders? new store at Charter Place, Watford. Sony SAIF company Still Frame of Horsham, Sussex were the installer. Philip Moore, Group Security Consultant at Allders, asys: ?Within the department store environment, we have been looking at moving away from traditional static CCTV cameras towards more aesthetically pleasing and discreet mini dome cameras. The launch of the Sony mini dome cameras earlier this year convinced us that these were ideal for our store requirements, especially as they provide us with high levels of picture quality and performance that are equal to our existing static cameras.? The domes are linked to a central control unit within each store with full recording facilities. Philip Moore adds: ?Since the installation we have already been successful in detecting a number of suspects involved in shoplifting, based on the images provided by the Sony mini dome cameras.?
