CCTV manufacturer AD Group – the parent company of Dedicated Micros – has acquired all of the share capital of D-Tec (Detector Technologies Limited) based in Alton, Hampshire, for an undisclosed fee.

For the last two years D-Tec, a video smoke and fire detection product firm, has been part owned by AD. D-Tec now becomes a fully fledged subsidiary of AD Group.

What they say

Said Mike Newton, AD Group’s CEO: “This is a significant strategic development for us and we believe it will prove mutually beneficial for AD Group and D-Tec. From a Group perspective it expands AD’s CCTV offering into new areas – smoke and fire detection – where D-Tec has a proven track record, as evidenced by prestigious projects such as the Swiss Re building in London. In the longer term there will also be tremendous potential for D-Tec’s sophisticated image processing technology to be embedded in Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) offered by other Group companies.

Ian Moore, Managing Director of D-Tec: “We are delighted with this deal and believe that it will open up tremendous opportunities for us at D-Tec. In many ways it is a perfect match as our long standing commitment to innovation is very much in keeping with the ethos which drives all of AD Group’s businesses.” Warrington-based AD describes the D-Tec announcement as part of an ongoing programme of acquisitions designed to strengthen its CCTV technology portfolio.
