The Safer Doors conference runs in Bridlington on October 15.
It’s aimed at leisure security and door people, equipment providers, trainers, police forces, local authorities and end users.
Invited speakers from the Security Industry Authority are chief exec Mike Wilson; and, on the training side – such as what competencies a doorman might require for licence renewal – Tony Holyland of the SIA. Also invited to speak: Andy Perkins and Claire Vanneck, of Leicester University, on research into violence against door staff, and the effect of licensing respectively. The final speaker before lunch, on use of drug search dogs in the night-time economy, is Alan Savill of Mannix Security.
After lunch, Geoff Woodcock, ACS assessor and consultant, will cover how companies can get SIA approved contractor status. What can employers and end users be doing to help protect our from the new Corporate Manslaughter laws? That’s one for David Ottewill of Camberford Law, the specialist security businss insurer. Other topics for the conference include Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (drug rape).
