Door staff in Cannock, Staffordshire are trained to help revellers enjoy an even safer night out in the town centre.
Each has successfully passed the accredited frontline Door Supervisors course and are all registered with the SIA (Security Industry Authority), the national governing body.
Their experience will be supplemented soon by further safety training from Staffordshire Police.
They also now wear fluorescent jackets, funded by the TVCP (Tackling Violent Crime Programme), so they’re more easily identifiable in a crowd during busy evenings.
Christopher Sambrook of Redline Security who manage Door Supervisors in the local area said: “We enjoy a close working relationship with local police and work as one team in Cannock to make the town a safer place.”
This safety campaign is being spearheaded by Sgt Jason Dorrington, a dedicated officer working in partnership with a host of agencies to support the local night-time economy.
Commented Sgt Dorrington: “Public safety is at the heart of this initiative. This approach aims to aid licensees and business people to set high standards for the management of their premises and the behaviour of their customers.
“The training of door staff is just one of the many ways we are supporting local businesses and with their help, making the town an even safer place for people to work and enjoy themselves.”
The director of SIA Training UK, Will Stoodley added: “Door Supervisors are a visible first point of contact for any situation which may arise. Their image is much more professional and this can only be for the good of the community as a whole in relation to public safety.”
