Manchester shop owner, Robert Madden, has installed a new security system called ‘Sentry500’ from RedWeb – available exclusively through ADI Global Distribution – following a spate of violent raids.
In 2006 alone, Robert’s Costcutter general store was attacked six times by robbers with guns, knives, baseball bats, broken bottles and bricks. A year ago, Robert installed RedWeb’s Sentry500 system which usessynthesised, encrypted DNA and red indelible dye delivered in a canister, hooked to an alarm panel.
When activated by the alarm or panic button, the product sprays Red DNA over the intruder making them with a visible, indelible red dye and biosynthetic DNA code. The spray has been designed to penetrate clothing to leave red dye on the skin, meaning police can (literally) catch thieves red-handed. The red dye stays visible on the skin for up to two weeks, but the DNA stays on for up to two months.

Each spray is registered with the police, allowing identification to each specific crime scene, and is recognised by the Association of Chief Police Officers’ Crime Prevention Initiatives (ACPO CPI).
Following RedWeb’s installation, Robert’s shop has been crime-free. "The atmosphere in the shop was terrible at the time of the raids, but it is much more relaxed now and I couldn’t be happier. I am so pleased with the new security system, it has made the shop a much safer place knowing we are protected from attackers."
"Technology within the security sector is constantly evolving. By working exclusively with RedWeb, ADI is taking a proactive approach to respond to its customers’ requirements by making cutting-edge technology easily available to them," said Julie Hartley, Intruder Business Product Manager at ADI.
Clive Smith, Chairman at RedWeb, said: "We developed this product as a direct response to increasing crime rates in the UK. As a company, we have over 20 years’ experience in police forensics and have been able to use this knowledge to create a product which places someone at the scene of the crime."
Available exclusively through ADI, RedWeb RedDNA canisters are fitted into a range of purpose-made deployment devices: RedWeb Sentry 500, RedWeb Box which is designed to fit into smaller spaces such as ATMs and ticketing machines, and RedWeb Rapid Deployment Kits (RRDK’s) which uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) to deploy Red DNA over criminals as they leave the premises.
