Electronic Signatures

by Msecadm4921

EEMA (the European not-for-profit association for e-Business), with the European Commission and other contributors, will investigate the legal issues surrounding the European Electronic Signatures Directive, at a workshop.

The workshop, open to all with a legal interest in Electronic Signatures, will explore the work carried out by EEMA and the industry over the past 12 months, with an examination of the state of the Directive within each European Member state, an update of accreditation schemes, live examples of three applications successfully using electronic signatures (e-contracts, e-government and e-invoicing), and the chance to discuss the Directive with the European Commission a year after its implementation. The feedback given by delegates to the European Commission will be used in the EC review of the Directive to be submitted to the European Parliament and Council of Administration in April 2003. The workshop will be led by Jos Dumortier (professor at K.U. Leuven University in Brussels, and chair of EEMA57;s legal interest group), with contributions from Bogaert & Vandemeulebroeke (Landwell), tScheme, Allagraf, Isabel, Bremen Online Services, the European Commission and others.รฟA panel of lawuers and a panel of technology experts will be there to scrutinise the presentations and provide input and feedback on the two days.
